Former Warroad High School standout Kobe Roth signed his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday to join Minnesota Duluth for the 2017-18 season.
Roth, 20, is in his first full USHL season with the Des Moines Buccaneers, who open the Clark Cup playoffs Friday against the Sioux City Musketeers. Roth has 12 goals and 19 assists in 42 games this season. He split last year between Des Moines and the Minnesota Wilderness of the NAHL.
Roth posted 42 goals and 49 assists in 28 games as a junior for Warroad in 2013-14, but played only 10 games as a senior in 2014-15 due to hip and ankle injuries.
Wednesday way the first day of the spring signing period for college hockey. UMD already signed four players during the November signing period — defensemen Scott Perunovich, Mikey Anderson and Matt Anderson, and forward Nick Swaney. Forward Peter Krieger will also be eligible to play for UMD in the fall after transferring from Alaska-Fairbanks.
The Bulldogs are graduating seven seniors from the 2016-17 squad that finished as NCAA national runners-up.
