UMD Men Will Be Without Parker Mackay This Week When Miami Comes To Town

The Minnesota Duluth men’s hockey team will be without junior wing and assistant captain Parker Mackay this weekend when it hosts Miami in NCHC play at Amsoil Arena in Duluth.

Mackay, who has an undisclosed injury, hasn’t practiced with the team this week and was ruled out by coach Scott Sandelin on Wednesday. He missed the Bulldogs’ last game on Feb. 3 at Denver. UMD was off last weekend.

Mackay has eight goals and nine assists in 28 games this season for UMD. His absence on Feb. 3 opened the door for senior wing Avery Peterson, the Grand Rapids native, to return to the lineup after being a healthy scratch in five straight games.

Also missing from practice on Wednesday was senior center Sammy Spurrell, who is battling an illness. Sandelin said Spurrell is questionable for the series against the Redhawks.
