UMD Hockey Notebook: Iozzo Catching Everyone’s Attention, Mrazova Fueling Offense, Iafallo Makes LA Kings Roster

Minnesota Duluth freshman forward Mallorie Iozzo didn’t see a ton of minutes over the weekend in the fourth-ranked Bulldogs season-opening sweep of Penn State, but when the Hibbing native was on the ice at Amsoil Arena, she made her minutes count.

Iozzo caught her team’s attention with two big plays Saturday in the 3-0 victory over the Nittany Lions to seal the sweep. Iozzo scored her first collegiate goal 13:10 into the third period to put UMD up 2-0, and in the closing seconds, blocked a shot to preserve a second-consecutive shutout for senior goaltender and WCHA Defensive Player of the Week Jessica Convery.
