It’s Not Rink And Run, But It Will Have To Do

Welcome to the new Duluth News Tribune Minnesota Duluth Bulldog hockey blog, the first since Kevin Pates retired his Rink and Run blog before leaving the western shores of Lake Superior for sunny Arizona.

For those of you who missed the Rink and Run blog, I hope this can fill that gaping void in your life, hockey wise. If you’re hoping I bring back Pates’ unique blend of pucks and marathons, you’ll be disappointed. I’m no runner thanks to the broken ankle I suffered before high school, ending a long and prosperous career of sitting the bench in the Oshkosh (Wis.) Youth Soccer League. I now leave all the running in my life to my dog, Roxie. She does plenty for the both of us and more.

How about Pucks and Pitch? Does that sound appealing to you? Maybe that will come some day down the road, like the next men’s World Cup. For now, I’m going to do my best maintaining a college hockey blog devoted to the UMD Bulldogs men’s and women’s programs.

Use the comments section below to offer suggestions for what you’d like to see here, such as links to other stories around college hockey, alumni updates, videos, podcasts, live chats, etc.

Note that I will be moderating comments in this blog. Think of this as a national talk radio show where you have to get by the producer. I’m not your local jock who lets any Joe Blow on the air.

Thank god the DNT is bringing back something resembling rink and run. Yes to soccer! Keep the updates coming. Go Dogs!

As soon as you know of scheduling for non-conference games in upcoming years, or when those will take place, let the fans know. I love finding out who we are playing and what the deal was (1v1, 2v1, H&H).
