Gameday: UMD Women Head Back To St. Cloud For Key Midweek Game

Last week, the Minnesota Duluth men’s hockey team played a mid-week game at Minnesota State-Mankato. Now it’s the women’s turn as they hit the road today for a much shorter trip to St. Cloud State. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:07 p.m.

This is actually a re-scheduled conference game after the Jan. 20 contest at SCSU was moved outdoors for Hockey Day Minnesota. Because conditions for outdoor games can be unpredictable, the two schools decided to make the Jan. 20 game a nonconference contest and to schedule the conference series finale for another day.

For UMD, the timing of today’s game is perfect. The Bulldogs only play an exhibition this coming weekend at home against the Minnesota Whitecaps. They’re coming off a home series against Ohio State.

For SCSU, the timing is less than ideal. The Huskies are coming off a Saturday-Sunday road series against Wisconsin, and have Minnesota visiting on Friday and Saturday. Props to the Huskies for taking on the challenge of playing five games in eight days against the Badgers, Bulldogs and Gophers.
