Gameday: Bulldogs Play Mankato Today With Heavy Hearts After Death Of Andrew Carroll

The Minnesota Duluth men’s hockey team is playing a Tuesday special at 7:07 p.m. tonight against Minnesota State-Mankato at the Verizon Wireless Center in Mankato.

It’s been a whirlwind 24 hours for the program, which went from celebrating a sweep and eighth-straight victory over North Dakota on Saturday night to on Sunday night getting word that former captain Andrew Carroll was in the hospital due to a fall at O’Hare International Airport. He died from the fall on Monday at the age of 32.

You can read more about Carroll over at duluthnewstribune.com. Sports editor Rick Weegman got in touch with former News Tribune UMD hockey beat writer Kevin Pates, who shared some great insight from his days of covering the Bulldogs and Carroll.
