Five former Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs were exposed Sunday for the Las Vegas Knights in the NHL Expansion Draft.
The Tampa Bay Lightning exposed both Jason Garrison, a defenseman, and J.T. Brown, a forward. Former Minnesota Wild forward Justin Fontaine, currently in the Edmonton Oilers organization and Chris Casto, a defenseman in the Bruins organization, were also exposed after playing in the American Hockey League last season.
Former Bulldogs goaltender Alex Stalock, who is in line to be the Minnesota Wild backup goaltender in 2017-18, was also exposed. Stalock spent most of 2016-17 with the Iowa Wild before getting called up late to the NHL.
The Washington Capitals protected defenseman Matt Niskanen, as did the Carolina Hurricanes with defenseman Justin Faulk.
The Los Angeles Kings protected defenseman Derek Forbort, a former Duluth East Greyhound who played at North Dakota. The same for the Arizona Coyotes with Grand Rapids native and former Minnesota Golden Gopher Alex Goligoski.
