Former Minnesota Duluth defenseman Chris Casto signed a one-year, $650,000 deal with the Vegas Golden Knights. He was one of six free agent signings the team announced on Saturday.
Casto, 25, played two seasons for the Bulldogs from 2011-13 before signing with the Boston Bruins as an unrestricted free agent. He’s yet to play an NHL game, spending the last four seasons with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League. He has 13 goals and 53 assists in 281 AHL games.
Casto and the other five players added on Saturday are all likely headed for the franchise’s AHL affiliate, the Chicago Wolves. The Knights being an expansion franchise, however, opens the door for all six to possibly play their way onto the NHL roster at some point.
