Bulldogs’ Stalder Named Woman Of The Year At Swiss Ice Hockey Awards

Former Minnesota Duluth forward Lara Stalder was named the Woman of the Year last week at the 2017 Swiss Ice Hockey Awards.

Stalder, the Bulldogs’ most valuable player in 2016-17, posted a career-best 23 goals and 33 assists as a senior to be named WCHA Player of the Year, a first-team All-American and a top-three finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award as national player of the year in NCAA women’s hockey.

Internationally, the native of Lucerne, Switzerland, scored eight goals and four assists in three games during the final round of Olympic qualifying in February to send Switzerland to the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. She led the Swiss again during the 2017 World Championship with four goals and five assists in six games.
